The society was established in year 1984  with the name of Indian Association for Dental Research, however at the suggestion of the IADR Head Office, the nomenclature of the association was changed to Indian Society for Dental Research (ISDR), which incorporated IADR Indian Division as well. The objectives of the society are:
  • To promote advancement of dental research in all aspect of oral and related sciences.
  • To promote the exchange and dissemination of information and ideas through regular scientific Meetings
  • To encourage & collaborate in medical and dental research of the society
ISDR has also organized 4 international meetings on fluoride and dental health,  Forensic Odontology, Atraumatic Restorative Treatment and Oral Health Policy. The Society has been hosting its annual conferences since 1987 but due to pandemic and other issues, the present 33rd Conference was postponed from year 2020 to 2023. The Society started its journal in 1989 and presently its volume 32 is in progress. The Journal is named as Indian Journal for Dental Research and is considered as the best dental journal in the country and south Asia. The Venue for the conference shall be prestigious and beautiful Sri Guru Govind Singhji Indraprastha University located in New Delhi, the capital city of India. The Conference is expected to have a large conglomeration of dental researcher, traders, innovators, educators and students.
